Daveed D. Frazier, MD
Orthopedic Spine Surgeon
Daveed D. Frazier, M.D. graduated cum laude from Harvard Medical School and joined the institution’s long history of distinguished speakers when selected to address his 1990 graduating class. He went on to complete a combined surgical internship at the New England Deaconess Hospital and an orthopaedic residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is president of Orthopaedic Associates of New York, PC, a group he joined in 1997. He has won many Teacher of the Year Awards for serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Columbia University and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Downstate where he teaches medical students and residents.
Dr. Frazier specializes in spine deformities and is a respected lecturer, accomplished researcher, and published author on spine disorders and treatment.
About Dr. Frazier
Prior to coming to New York, Dr. Frazier completed two spinal surgery fellowships. The first one was at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and a second spinal deformity fellowship was at Doctor’s Hospital in Coral Gables. During his years at Harvard Medical School, he was involved in orthopaedic research and was instrumental in developing a patent for biodegradable bone cement. Between 1989 and 1990, Dr. Frazier received a fellowship and trained with the father of orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Maurice Mueller, in Switzerland. Returning to Harvard, he completed a Harvard Surgical Internship at the New England Deaconess Hospital followed by the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency. After his residency, he was selected to be a chief resident at the Massachusetts General Hospital where he was in charge of orthopaedic trauma surgery.
Presented to Dr. Frazier by the Jazz Foundation of America, a non-profit organization that is based in NYC, in recognition for the time and care of his team in helping out a Jazz producer in need of urgent care. The Jazz Foundation was founded to help the legendary pioneers of jazz, blues, soul and R&B who are facing hunger, eviction and destitution daily.
Author of a number of peered reviewed articles and book chapters, Dr. Frazier actively lectures both locally and internationally. He is a member of a number of professional organizations including the Society of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, North American Spine Society, Society of Lateral Access Surgery, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, New York Society of Orthopedic Surgeons, New York Medical Society, National Medical Association, and the Arthritis Foundation.
Born in Jeffersonville, Indiana and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Frazier is an avid athlete and loves to travel. While his practice focuses on minimally invasive spinal procedures and adult degenerative conditions, his interest include cervical spinal pathology, pediatric scoliosis and emerging spinal technology. Consistent with being a consummate overachiever and perfectionist, Dr. Frazier has produced several Broadway shows.
